I attempted a series of very quick crayon sketches trying the capture the movement of the kittiwakes as they approached and landed at the nest and then took off, dropping downwards before flying away. It wasn't very successful but it was good fun. That evening Nik explained that I would have been better trying the use broad strokes to put in the movement very quickly and then use detailed sketches and knowledge to put in just enough information to describe the bird.
